A sense of community begins in the Living-Learning Center and continues throughout the Blount experience. It is not uncommon to see the large and numerous common areas and rec rooms of Blount Hall occupied by students and fellows reading, talking, goofing off, or simply relaxing. Programs are organized year round, ranging from dance classes, cooking lessons, and movie nights to the more traditional study sessions and workshops. The Blount Intramural Sports teams, “The Smokin’ Blounts”, compete regularly with other UA organizations, and are known for their ability to lose gracefully. Long-lasting friendships often begin during the first year, but although dorm life is very social, one can always find a quiet place to study when it’s needed.
