Convocation – “Classification Matters”

February 18 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

“Classification matters” is the unofficial motto of UA’s Department of Religious Studies—a Department where you can certainly study the descriptive when, where, and who of the world’s religions but where you can also consider what’s at stake in calling this a cult and that a religion, this a myth and that history. It’s longtime chair, Prof. Russell McCutcheon, will discuss why the Department has made this move to studying classification systems and the role that cross-disciplinary social theory plays in their classes and the faculty members’ research.
