Convocation – “Lewis and Clark in Time: Why the Memory of Their Great Adventure Persists”
November 12 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Dr. Ian Brown
There have been many expeditions in the continental United States, but the one that was made by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark between 1804 and 1806 persists strongly in our memories, far beyond the importance that was realized at the time. My talk will address some of the reasons why this is so, as well as introduce students to the materials they collected and that are preserved in the collections of the Peabody Museum, Harvard University.
