In this presentation, Dr. Nirmala Erevelles will deconstruct notions of normativity and achievement in higher educational contexts like UA and propose a centering of vulnerability and disability as crucial to our definition of humanness. We can then discuss the implications of this intervention in the ableist contexts that have historically been deemed normal, natural, and inevitable.
