The small screen has, in recent years, seen an influx of historical fiction, which has created a great deal of interest in learning about the past amongst viewers. Using Hayden White’s concept of “historiophoty” and Stephanie Genz’s concept of the “postfeminist Supergirl” as a starting point, Dr. Barbara Gray will discuss how we see Spain’s history subverted through four female protagonists who rewrite the Spanish woman’s story in the Netflix original series, Cable Girls.
