The first convocation will be an information session about The Blount Scholars Program and the first year curriculum and a chance to ask Whiting and Dr. Keene questions.
This program will bring many of the Blount professors to the residence hall so the residents will have the opportunity to engage with their Blount professors in a casual setting. This will help them build relationships with their peers and professors so that they are more comfortable in the classroom and can make the most
We will have our yearly ceremony during which the new Blount Scholars sign the Blount Book of Scholars. There will be a reception immediately following.
As students are first adapting to campus, it is important for them to develop healthy eating habits at the dining halls. A dietitian from the Student Health Center will come to do a presentation on "Healthy Eating on Campus." We will also serve veggie and fruit trays for the residents to enjoy during the presentation.

We are bringing the writing center into the LLC the night before the first major Blount essay is due. Writing center staff will be available to do last minute corrections and advisement for students so that their essays can fulfill their potential. There will be coffee and donuts provided.
